Attractions
A pretty Herefordshire village surrounded by unspoilt countryside offering many walks, lovely views and a well-established fishing pool, close to the border with Wales. Nearby explore famous Goodrich Castle, a perfect example of a 12th century "Marcher Castle", or enjoy the renowned walks along Offa's Dyke and the Wye Valley Walk. Visit beautiful Symonds Yat with its towering rocks where peregrine falcons breed, and take the ferry across the river to the Wye Valley Visitors Centre. Overlooking a large loop in the beautiful River Wye is the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye. This attractive town has timbered Tudor houses clustered around the striking 17th century Market Hall, and there are excellent shops, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste. Monmouth, an intriguing market town on the border between Wales and England and close to the exceptional Offa’s Dyke, combines old and new, from the old castle ruins to the vibrant weekly market. Visitors to this area can also enjoy day trips to delightful Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains and the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park. Also recommended is a visit to nearby Hereford, Gloucester, the beautiful Cotswolds and Chepstow.
